5 out of 5 stars I love this book!   May 9, 2008
I love this book! I like the fact it is not the same as every other bestseller! I particulary like interesting and original layout of the book including the notes. I disagree that they are a tedious addition slowing reading down, they are thinking points and are important to what you take away from the story. But then I see reading a book as an enjoyable adventure - not a race! I love the style of writing and clever use of words and will definately re-read this book, something I rarely enjoy a book enough to do , and I think I will pick up something new with each reading. An excellent book well worth the money and deserving of 5 stars plus.

5 out of 5 stars one of the best books i have ever read   May 9, 2008
This book is one of the best books I have ever read. I couldn't put it down but when I had to I couldn't stop thinking about it. It is beautifully wriiten and it made me think about things differently. It is set during the second world war and tells a story about how life was for the ordinary German people, it made me think about how we accept without thinking that our side were the good guys and all Germany were the enemy when in fact there was this whole population who were frightened and manipulated. The book made me cry at times, it is a wonderful realistic story and I urge everyone to read it, you won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars I just loved it.   May 8, 2008
Please don't be put off by the idea of a book 'narrated by death' or if you struggle with the first couple of chapters, as I did. This book is brilliant, lovely, touching and rare, not least thanks to the insight it gives us into everyday life in Nazi Germany. This is the best book I have read in such a long time- i don't know what to read next as nothing will match up!

5 out of 5 stars Sleep Thief   May 6, 2008
I guarantee you will LOVE this book - but you will loose sleep over it.

Truely heart warming and uplifting. Don't worry Death being the narrator - it is funny, uplifting, sad and moving - but very easy to read.

5 out of 5 stars An Emotional Rollercoaster   May 5, 2008
I've never been so glued to a book. I've never read a book that made me cry. Read it, you wont be disappointed !
