5 out of 5 stars GREAT AS ALWAYS   April 30, 2008

Well a new album from James McMurtry and a beauty, the Texas troubador comes up with a classic with some great electric and acousic cuts.
Some tracks seem to be of concern to his fellow americans due to their political content (obviously less of a concern to us Brits) as they are anti government however they do not detract from the musical quality of the album.
As ever I do hope that this release will bring him the credit that he deserves for serving up some of the best americana I have ever heard.
Not a bad place to start if you don't have any McMurtry CD's, but if you are a fan how did you manage to wait for the UK release?

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant   April 20, 2008
A great piece of Americana, with strong lyrics and fine tunes. Clearly there is a political axe to grind here, and it stands in the tradition of Springsteen, Dylan, Guthrie at al. But it's also fun and a great listen. Strongly recommended.
