I'm not usually a Eurovision Fan... May 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Because lets be honest, a lot of the artists/bands that have appeared (especially in recent years) are usually, whats the word..oh yes, rubbish! Well its nearly Eurovision time again and the same goes for this year. There are some pretty good tunes, and there's some very bad Eurotrash!
There are a lot of dance tracks this year which will be played throughout European clubs in the summer. The funny award goes to Iceland (have you seen the video?!) Then there's the real Eurotrash catagory, like Estonia's entry for example.
The kids will be voting for Latvia (you've got to admit the chorus is catchy - a bit 'Flogging Molly' style.) However the stand out track for me is Serbia's entry 'Oro' by Jelena Tomasevic feat. Bora Dugic, which I could listen to again and again.
The major disappointment comes in the form of the British Entry - Andy Abraham. I usually love the style of music he chooses to sing, even owning one of his albums. However his Eurovision entry does nothing for me, it is nothing new. So once again, Britain has no chance of winning Eurovision. Not just because of politics (which plays a massive part), but because it continues to choose rubbish songs.
Eurovision 2008 - Douze points... May 5, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Well here we go again with another jamboree of euro hopefulls all getting together just to show how far apart we really were in the first place!! Nevertheless, within the cocktail of 43 songs are the usual belting anthemic tracks brought to you again this year courtesy of Charlotte Perelli from Sweden ( a hot fave to take the euro crown for a second time) alongside a dance tune from Iceland which has all the hallmarks of a surefire summer euro hit in nightclubs from Dublin to Dubrovnic.Other high points this year include Switzerland with a fabulous slow anthemic intro which builds into a crowd pleasing thumper of a tune, Armenia with its drum banging conteporary dance tune with more than a whiff of the east to help it catch those all important eastern block votes and Andorras "steps" like song which should at least bring 12 points from Spain to ensure it keeps out of the 0 point category!! The contest has its usual quota of hunky guys brought to you this year from Russia,Israel and Denmark and its share of sexy girls from Ukraine,Poland and the chicks from Germany. From the sublime to the ridiculous this years contest does not disapoint on any level ( check out Ireland, Belgium,Bosnia and France in the "annual" strange category) but as we all know anything can happen on the night and i'm sure it will!! This is a great compelation cd that really is worth a purchase,go on... you know you want to!!
Hurrah For Eurovision May 4, 2008 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
So this year theres 43 songs for our delight.
Plenty of non english ballads, great dancey tunes and plenty of catchy sing-a-long tracks.
Highlights of the songs come in the form of Germanys Dissapear, Denmarks MIKA sound alike song, Greece's turn to a more bass fuelled sound. Swedens 'Hero' is the usual catchy vibe.
Theres so much on this for everyone. Bring on May 20, 22 and 24th :):):)
