I am actually writing about the Rotak 43 here (apparently not sold by Amazon), but I assume this will apply to all similar models.
First of all, I didn't think I was ever going to be able to assemble the grass box. It was almost impossible to hold the parts in place while trying to do so and I wasn't left full of confidence by its shoddy appearance. I'm not very confident about its ability to hold onto the mower body either.
The blade adjustment lever is ridiculously difficult to move and I'm sure that many elderly owners would find it absolutely impossible.
The biggest problem though, is that the cable is wired directly into the mower, with no safety break-away device installed. Apart from the safety aspect, where on earth are you supposed to store the cable? Surely it wouldn't have been too much trouble for Bosch to supply connector plugs, so that you can simply detach it and wind it onto a cable tidy?
I haven't had chance to try it yet, but the poor quality of construction and this irritation about the cable has left me feeling very disappointed.

I don't normally write reviews, but this lawnmower is so good it deserves it. I had been using a black and decker 4x4 for the last seven years before it finally gave up the ghost. The difference is like night and day. I bought the rotak after reading these reviews and I am so glad I did. It is so quick and collects ALL the grass cuttings. It also cuts to the shortest length first time with no stalling of the blade or clogging up of the collectiion chute (unlike the 4x4). All in all a first class product that I would highly recommend.

I needed to purchase a new mower recently as my 3 year old Flymo fell apart, and decided to read the Amazon reviews before I made a decision.
This Rotak 36 seemed to have no faults so I decided to buy at the excellent Amazon price.
What a good decision!! I have used it once and it does exactly as it says on the tin!
Very easy to assemble, well made from good thick plastic, and it cuts the lawns a treat.
Cuts very evenly, right up to the edges of the lawn, and the grass box is large enough not to have to make constant visits to the compost bin.
Light in weight makes it very manoueverable, the large carrying handle in the top enables one to lift very easily, and it is reasonably quiet.
One small gripe. It is supplied with only 12 metres of cable, so it did not reach the bottom of my garden. Will have to fabricate an extension, otherwise great value.

Like several other previous owners of a Flymo,I decided to plunge for this mower based on its many 5 star reviews,after my Flymo went up in smoke.I wasn`t to be disappointed.This mower is an absolute treat.After several years of using a Flymo and it`s many replacements this one cuts effortlessly and cleanly first time without going to and fro on the same patch of grass which often ended up being chewed rather than cut by my Flymo.The Rotak picks up every piece without leaving clumps of compressed grass on the lawn.It did my edges so well that I didn`t need to use the edging shears afterwards.All this on damp and fairly long grass.A faultless performance.Highly recommended.
