Didn't work for me May 6, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have been using this for four months with absolutely no effect. I have tried to be patient and persevere but it is fiddly to use - the laser head is such a small part of the wand that it is difficult to know if you have positioned it where you want it to be. I have very fair skin and dark hair so this should work well for me but having seen no improvement my patience has run out.
Absolute rubbish May 5, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
For $190, you get a useless piece of technology that only weighs 1.5kg!! If you've ever had laser hair removal done at a salon, you'll have noticed how big and bulky those machines are and thats why they pack so much power. To compare this piece of junk to a pro-machine made by the likes of candela, palomar or syneron - the big laser players, is like comparing a toy train set to the real thing. Rio is one of those companies that is jumping the gun on the hair removal home product market, they're cashing in on a craze with a unproven useless product. There will be home laser devices that will work, I'm waiting for one from the American manufacturer Palomar. I expect to pay more than just 200, but I would also expect the machine to be of some use too.
A complete waste of time and money! March 27, 2008 17 out of 19 found this review helpful
It is not often that I am so incensed by a product to write a review, but I have to say this laser is completely and utterly useless.
To be brief I purchased the scanning laser and have followed the instructions to the letter - now for more than a month and a half. I have repeatedly targeted the same areas of hair and have what is thought to be the best combination of skin and hair colour, i.e. very pale skin and dark hair. Notwithstanding not one of the hairs I have targeted has fallen out after a month and a half of treatment.
I have repeatedly emailed the company and phoned them to request information on why the laser may not be effective (there is of course no information on the product as to why the hair does not fall out in some cases even if the instructions are followed, possibly the laser is just ineffective on some people although it is not clear why) and also why waxing/plucking is not appropriate during treatments (surely if the hair has been treated effectively then removing the hair is only helping the natural process along?. Of course the laser cannot be used again on these areas until a new hair has grown if indeed it does.
There has been no response from the company, they have not returned calls as requested or responded to emails which I can only assume is because they are fully aware the laser is not effective on some people, but do not wish to place a warning on the product for fear of reducing sales.
I have to say I am extremely disappointed with the product and would strongly recommend that you do not buy it.
It Works But don't expect results over night January 5, 2008 28 out of 28 found this review helpful
One thing i have noticed from the reviews placed so far is that it is obvious that most are not reading the full instructions. My partner bought the machine and yes it does work but the reveiwers seem to be expecting results over night!
If you look at the instructions it does clearly state that it can take 7-14 days for it to work on treated areas, also consider the fact that some areas have to be treated up to seven times before it works then it can be a lenghly process, so time is the key, but for all those who do not wish to give it time to work and feel that they do not want to be treating there body for weeks on end then consider this. All the effort and waiting until the hair drops out or stops growing so that you NEVER! have to shave again is surely worth it? or the alternative carry on shaving for the rest of your life or spend a lot of money on salon treatments.
My partner is well happy with the results but she stuck to it. Nothing comes easy in life so if you want overnight results then don't waste your money and carry on living in dream land. If you are willing to put the time and effort in then this product will work and give you the results that will well be worth the wait.
WASTE OF MONEY!! December 9, 2007 16 out of 21 found this review helpful
Hi,
I have bought the `'RIO SALON LASER HAIR REMOVER'' few month ago and I've paid almost 190 pounds. PLEASE DO NOT BUY IT!! IT IS A MAJOR WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME!!! Go get yourself a good epilator instead!! I have used laser before in a salon so I had an idea how it should work. I have followed the instructions step by step, been using it for like 4 sessions in the same area and absolutely nothing happened. On the booklet which comes with it says u should see some results within 7 to 14 days. After 30 days still no results. Tried to get rid of it, they won't refund it, can't even sell it on ebay `cause are like a hundred of them for sale as everybody's trying to get rid of them!!
