5 out of 5 stars I should have bought shares in HoMedics   May 8, 2008
I brought my machine into the design studio where I work as many of us there suffer from sore and stiff backs. It was such a hit that some have been bought by my collegues for home use as well as one to keep in the studio. Whenever I feel myself stiffening up, I pop on for 15 mins and can walk rather than hobble off it.

3 out of 5 stars Heat not on all SBM 300s   March 17, 2008

Amazon web page is a little misleading. As another reviewer pointed out at present the heat function is available only on some U.S. models but they are the SBM 300H models. H presumably standing for heat. So please check before buying. Also as the same reviewer pointed out, not too good for that "oh so common shoulder stress" as it stops too far down (unless you are a severely vertically challenged shortarse). Have to say it did my lower and mid back a power of good. But If I had the readies I would have preferred a Geisha girl. Currently saving up!

4 out of 5 stars SBM-300 is the model you want   December 18, 2007

Homedics have several different models of their massage cushions but the SBM-300 is the best of the lot. I did read several reviews on the various models and actually tested the models before making the purchase. Testing this model in a store convinced me and I simply had to have it. I have now had this for the better part of 3 months and I use it off and on.

It's a very useful gadget to have for an aching back after a hard work day. About 10 minutes on the cushion really works wonders for a stiff back. The shiatsu massage is quite powerful with a deep circular kneading action while the rolling massage is a more basic up and down action. The massage rollers are designed to only work on your back muscles without touching the spine and thus this device is safe to use. The SBM-300 model lets you target specific spots on the back with the shiatsu massage and there are pre-set massage actions - full, upper and lower for both the shiatsu and rolling massage.

The only reason this doesn't get a 5 star rating though is the lack of heat - an option available in the models sold in the US. Also the rollers do not get all the way up to the shoulders. However that said, a full massage chair that could work everything from the shoulders to the legs effectively would probably cost several hundred pounds more in comparison.

5 out of 5 stars Simply Superb!   November 12, 2007

Had it for 2 weeks now and it's incredible.
I suffer from (or, should I say, used to suffer from) lower back pain which I can only describe as being due to tight / stiff muscles - any incorrect bending or even sitting on a low sofa would result in the muscles feeling as if they had seized up.
3 sessions per day of 5 - 10 minutes each on this superb massager (shiatsu setting) totally sorts out my back. I suspect I will need to use it daily from now on, but that's a small price to pay, believe me! If you're thinking of getting a Homedics massager then think carefully whether you need the massager to concentrate on one particular area or not. If, like me, you do then definitely go for the SBM-300 because you can have a spot massage with it. If not, then you may want to consider the SBM-200.
