Works well for me. May 1, 2008 I was going to buy a wireless transmitter for my ipod, but came across this instead. Very pleased I did, too. It works very well, even though my in-car cassette player itself is rather old and knackered. Much simpler to use than the wireless devices, and best of all no interference or loss of signal. The sound is pretty good, and if you've only got a standard in-car system, you probably won't need anything better. I just hope it lasts! Beware though, according to the instructions: It cannot be used in a cassette deck in which you insert a cassette with its tape opening facing away from you. Worth mentioning I guess.
The best product of its type. April 21, 2008 For two years I have put up with appalling sound quality whilst listening to my MP3 player in my car through a Belkin MP3 cassette adapter. My 4 year old Iriver IHP40 MP3 player is great (if now somewhat old fashioned by modern standards it still beats any Apple iPod hands down) and my Bose sound system in my Audi A3 is unbeatble but with no MP3 player socket (and no desire to try a notoriously unreliable FM receiver) I had to go and spoil the whole thing with a cheap Belkin device. The sound quality was just dreadful with a constant tape hum, variable volume, hiss and loss of bass.
But now all this has changed since I discovered the Sony cassette adapter. The quality is as excellent as it is ever possible to get for a tape device and definitely better than an original cassette tape. There is no discernible tape hum or noise and not only is my music so much clearer, sharper and with a full range of tones but I can also now listen to downloaded Podcasts of programmes predominatly in the spoken word - something that was close to unworkable with the Belkin. Previously, the best quality music on my car stereo was through CDs. Now the MP3 player through the Sony cassette adapter is as good. If you need a device like this buy the Sony. It is unbeatable and without question worth the extra money.
The perfect tool for the job April 7, 2008 As others have said, it's impossible to fault this. The sound quality is excellent. The tape mechanism itself makes no background sound. It worked immediately. The instructions are 2 lines long (and you don't even need those). What can I say? This is the best thing I've bought ever. I can now listen to my ipod in the car. Awesome.
Cannot fault this piece of kit March 30, 2008 I ordered this along with a car holder as I had problems with the ipod in car players that work via the radio channels due to my cigarette holder is in a weird position. Much frustration!
However I bought one of these on the back of the reviews and went ahead and ordered. It was taking a while to arrive (Due to it coming from the USA) I bought another one from Argos from some no name brand...and it was HORRID. It was really loud and did not have any clarity at all. I was severely disappointed and was hoping among all hopes this wouldn't be the same.
My hopes paid off! This in car adapter is excellent and gives a crisp, clear, full sound and I have the generic speakers on a 1997 escort so it could not be the car enhancing the sound to be honest. On the few moments before I hit play on my iPod and turn the ignition key you do hear a whirring but to be honest that whirring is really quite quiet.
I mean if you have a whisper quiet engine and have low ambient music on you may hear a whirring but I have never heard it after I start to drive away. A word of advice not related to the tape itself: if you are using an ipod for this I would recommend turning up the car volume rather than ipod volume as at high volumes the bass is prone to distortion but that's the ipod sound processor.
As for this tape adapter 5/5 and I will not be upgrading this until I have a few hundred pounds to spare on a complete car sound upgrade!
Good But noisy July 30, 2007 Alot better than my old one, just extremely noisy, have to turn the music up just to get over the tape grinding!!!!!
