Cannot see myself using any other headphones April 29, 2008 I've been working at my current office for about 2 months. On complaining about the bad sound quality on the latest of a succession of portable headphones I was using 4 co-workers around me in almost creepy unison hold up their 3 x PX 100 and a set of PX 200. The comments around me ranged from "Cannot see myself using any other headphones" to "accept no substitutes" and "these PX 200's are not as good as the PX 100's I had before". I guess I better order some then... The sound quality really is on a whole level or 3 above what I've found with all the other sub 20 headphones I've ever had, simply excellent. Crisp clear with superb contrast between loud and soft sounds, I can actually here more of the music in a way you normally only can on your good home hi-fi system. I'm playing music off a PC. They are very comfortable and fold up into their own carry case. One of my co-workers has had them for over 3 years and has replaced the sponge ear pieces once, so long term durability promises to be good too. So now I will say it - "Cannot see myself using any other headphones"
Great for their value March 10, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The sound quality of this headphone pair is just superb considering how much these cost. I would had expected it to be so-so.I can't give it lower than 5 stars because of its great value. I would give it a 4.7.
The base is crisp and powerful, rivalling those inner ear headphones at 20-30 mark. The highs and mids had a tiny bit of distortion but you won't probably notice unless you have another headphone to compare.
At noisy environment, you would need to crank up the volume as the drives are not closed.
The wire length are a bit too long for my taste. I mainly use it to cycle. An open headphone is probably safer for cycling when you can still hear traffic.
Ideal for portable audio March 3, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Excellent headphones and ideal for use with portable audio gear. I use them with a 2G iPod Nano and a Sony personal CD player. At a recent audio show I was able to compare them directly with the PX200 model. I preferred the PX100, but it's a matter of taste. The PX100 is open backed, so you get a better and more airy stereo sound, whereas the PX200 is closed back so you get less ambient noise and less sound leakage. It all depends where you intend to use them. In terms of sound quality, the PX100 when coupled to the iPod Nano deliver plenty of bass, (possibly even slightly too much, but it gives them a good full sound) and treble and midrange are both clear. The headphones are very sensitive and work well with the limited power of the iPod.
I have to say the Amazon price is excellent (compare high street prices!) and the PX100 is probably impossible to beat for the money if you are looking for this style of headphone.
great headphones February 9, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
really good sound quality and more importantly, very comfortable headphones. you can bearly feel them when they're on, and you can sleep whilst wearing them (if you roll you head onto them, they're v soft)
The sound leakage isn't that bad, depends on the environment and therefore the volume you have your music at.
Simply outstanding! February 5, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
These are outstanding headphones and give a very well balanced sound - powerful bass but with great detail through the mid-range right up to the highest notes.
Their design is also excellent, with their clever folding design, particularly how they fold into the provided hard-case.
If you need excellent on-ear phones for a reasonable price, these are your best-bet.
Only minor niggle is that they leak sound quite a lot, both ways, meaning if your listening in an environment with high background noise then you'll really have to crank up the volume, so risking your hearing. Also for this reason they wouldn't be great on the tube or other quiet environments for sociable reasons. But then they are on-ear phones - if you need sound insulation get in-ears or noise-cancelling phones - otherwise GET THESE!!
