Sony Bravia - Plug-in & Play!!! May 12, 2008 I debated the Sony vs Panasonic decision for some time prior to settling on this purchase, and with a budget of circa 450 wanted to ensure I'd get the best value for money. Both brands are worthy of any wall.
It ended up as a Panasonic Viera TX32LMD70 vs the Sony unit, and I was initially considering a John Lewiss Purchase (as they include 5ysrs warranty). But the Amazon cost saving finally swung the decision in the Sony's favour.
The TV arrived as promised. I hastely bolted the mounting bracket to the bedroon wall (after some mods), plugged the TV power and Ariel in (after roughly throwing a 30 digital compatible Ariel into the loftspace and guessing the best transmission direction) and pressed the remote I/O button with anticipation (having disregarded the user manual as per a typical bloke).
After easily selecting the language and auto-tune function via the remote, the TV whizzed though the tuning procedure, getting 88 of the free-view channels almost immediately. The picture is stunning - thanks to the 8000:1 contrast ratio and on-screen controls are great and easy to adjust.
The only minor issue I had was the use of a Forest universal 26"-36" mounting bracket, which on inspection was as wide at the TV itself and therefore protruded out from the side if I slid the Sony left of right - which just did'nt look good. Also the vertical mounts that bolted to the back of the TV protruded slightly above the screen. Both these issues were sorted with the careful application of a jigsaw - but anyone not wishing to modify a bracket should check the size of a TV wall bracket as (I also sprayed the Forest unit mat black prior to finally mounting as grey just did'nt match the TV and looked a bit naff side on).
Sorry - long review - but just my experience.
Brilliant service, wonderful TV May 11, 2008 I SCANNED THE WEB FOR A NEW TV. I DECIDED TO MAKE A PURCHASE FROM AMAZON BECAUSE I FIND THE REVIEW SYSTEM IS EXCELLENT. I MADE THE PURCHASE ONE LUNCH TIME AND RECEIVED THE TV BY 10 O CLOCK THE FOLLOWING DAY... A SATURDAY AS WELL. MY SON, AGED 13, SPENT 10 MINUTES PLUGGING IN THE SET BEFORE IT WAS READY TO WATCH. UNPACKING THE TV TOOK LONGER. THE PICTURE QUALITY IS EXCELLENT AND I HOPE FOR MANY ENJOYABLE HOURS WATCHING TV. I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY FEWER PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY VISITING SHOPS WHEN A FIRST CLASS SERVICE LIKE THIS IS AVAILABLE.
Easy as 1, 2, 3... May 10, 2008 After reading the reviews for this TV, and getting the great price from Amazon, I knew this was the one for me! Delivery was within 3 days and was without problem. Within 20 minutes of unpacking and plugging in, I was watching a clear picture with excellent sound. Would definately recommend to anyone who was unsure about purchasing this TV.
Excellent!!! May 7, 2008 Straight out of the box and watching the TV in half an hour, connected to Sky, DVD, Wii, and freeview just fine. And what a set! Great colour and despite the moans about the sound I think it is fine and easily enhanced the qulity by playing it through the stereo. For the price this is a great TV I did a lot of research and thought Sony would be too expensive for my budget, it wasn't. Good value.
Looks great but only displays the quality of the Input signal. May 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Loved the design and all the input ports for my gaming systems and dvd and digital telly ( I dont get out much, OK ) the ps3 display is amazing, but at the moment I am dissapointed with the display of Virgin Media and the freeview picture. The sony website does explain that a HD tv will only enhance flaws in picture quality, so be aware. Also if you go for the glass stand combo deal, make sure you have room for it, I was surprised at the size of it when it arrived.
