Wake Up Seller..... April 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Wouldn't it be nice if the advertiser paid attention to it's customers, we now have three customer discussions all asking about suitability for different printers... Guess they have all done what I did, searched for their Cannon printer and saw that this item was in the list of "Customers Who Viewed This Item Also Viewed" The offering does not give an exhaustive list of suitable printers... neither does it give the Cannon reference numbers on the cartridges. Wake up sellers, do you want to sell this product or not??? David
Faulty chips make excellent printers useless March 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Reviewers so far think that it is worth buying genuine cartridges. Having just had two faulty chips in a row on new genuine cartridges, my advice would be to buy a different make of printer - and not because the Canon's are not excellent when they are working, it is just a question of how many spare cartridges do you have to keep in order to ensure that you can continue printing when one runs out.
Unless you are dexterous, don't go with compatibles February 6, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
It was totally my fault - I missed the part that said 'compatible' when I ordered some replacement inks for my Canon MP530. Big mistake!! The chips on the original Canon ink cartridges are clearly not meant to be taken off and reused. Or perhaps I just don't have sufficient circus blood in my veins because I ended up with a mess that luckily did not drip onto the carpet. And luckily enough washed off my fingers such that I passed muster at the customer for whom I was trying to print some pages for.
My advice is to spend the few extra on orginal inks because Canon have no interest in making your life easier - and cheaper - by supplying 'quick swap' chips.
buy the genuine thing January 7, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I thought i would save money by buying compatible ink cartridges. My advice is dont. Had an assignement due in this morning, had to change the cartridge and ended up having to go to my brothers to print my essay. You can have problems with quality, mine printed one line in good bold print followed by poor quality the next. Have deep cleaned the printer several times. Have had this problem each time i have changed the compatible cartridge. Bad timing the night before my uni work was due in. I also agree with other comments on having to remove the chip from the original cartridge and place it on the compatible cartridge. this is very fiddley. the chip also tells the printer that the cartridge is empty, when it obviously isnt, and eventually a screen message tells you that cannon will not take any responsibility if the printer is damaged. Buy the original, get quality, save time and stress if things go wrong and you need printing to be reliable.
Canon MP series ink cartridges January 5, 2008 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
Having bought compatible cartridges from outside Amazon marketplace, my Canon MP500 produced a number of untraceable error codes. What the suppliers of compatibles don't tell you is you have to swap the chips from your original Canon cartridges, which is beyond fiddly, and left me with ink up both arms by the end. Even then, the printer failed to recognise one of the cartridges, and said another was empty (though clearly it wasn't).
Yesterday afternoon (14:54) I gave up trying, and ordered some 'originals' off Amazon supplied by Quigleys, assuming there would be yet more catches.
No catches! - original, new, packaged Canon cartridges arrived less than 24 hours after I'd placed the order. My printer accepted them all first time without any problems.
My recommendation? Go for originals which only cost a few quid more, and save yourself a lot of hassle. Quigleys service was the best I've ever had off Amazon.
