5 out of 5 stars Survives 40U washes as well!   April 14, 2008

I bought this pen drive to use with macs at home and uni - it works fast and so far it's been very reliable. Also, I accidentally left it in a pocket when I washed my clothes, and it survived 3 cycles of 40 degree washes: can't really ask for more than that.

5 out of 5 stars Great kit- U3 is useful   April 5, 2008
Great little stick, noticed it has went up in price since I bought it a few weeks back, but it happens.

U3 software supplied adds another bit of functionality to what is a great flash drive. Lots to download and great at work as no amdin rights seem to be needed to run software, so firefox at work!

5 out of 5 stars Small, elegant and brilliant   April 4, 2008
I needed a flash drive and this little thing looked and sounded the business. Bought the one with 4GB and must say that it really is fantastic. I have all my personal files backed up on it using the synch manager - which by the way could not be easier to use even if they tried. It really is portable and compatible with any computer. Went to visit a prospective new client. I got the contract and needed some files which they had (approx 1GB). The guy suggested e-mailing them to me but since I had this little gizmo on my keyring I just pluged it in and got the files. Job done and everyone saved time. I can tell you the guy was really impressed!
I now have a philips DVDR which has a USB port. Wanna watch a movie tonight. Just download a movie file, copy on to the flash drive and plug it in to my Philips and I'm sorted.

Fantastic little device. I have so much personal and business data on it and I can still add a movie. Personal data is encypted and safe. Best investment I bought this year!

4 out of 5 stars Excellent - but the wrong way 'round!   March 22, 2008

Memory sticks are like TV recorders and dishwashers: Before you own one you think they're a naff extravagence, once you've got one though you can't live without them, which is which is why I bought this item. This was some months ago now and I notice the price has dropped already!

I like this stick because the USB plug extends in and out of the stick itself rather than having a protective lid which *always* gets lost or broken. Sticks which have a keyring attached to the lid should be banned by law - you will inevitably lose them. I was a bit worried that the in/out mechanism would break but I've been brutal with it and it has held strong.

This stick comes with some integral software, run-of-the-mill freeware like Skype, AVG anti-virus, completely pointless: If you want it then download it, there's no need to have it on a stick all the time. What's worse is it creates a virtual CD drive when you insert it with all this junk on it - what a waste of time! When I want drive letters used up for no reason I'll let the manufacturer know. Fortunately it's quite easy to remove this so you can revert to what you actually bought in the first place, a 4GB memory stick.

I work in IT so this stick is in and out of PCs all day long, desktops, laptops, you name it and loads of different brands too. Literally 90% of the time the illuminated switch is facing away from me so I never see it light up. Is that just me or should the switch be on the other side?!

4 out of 5 stars Cheap: but too wide and doesn't work with Win 98SE,   March 21, 2008
1 out of 2 found this review helpful

Great value for money (about 11). Too wide. I cannot plug some other devices in adjacent ports on my D-Link USB hub.
I cannot use it to transfer data betwenn my XP machine and an old 98SE box. To be fair it does not claim to be 98SE compatible. Now I need to buy one that is .
There is a Win98 driver installer on the manufacturer's site but it did not work. There is a lot of internet forum discussion on this. I gave up trying the suggested fixes.
Did not like the u3 software. You can get rid of it and remove the partition using the u3 software itself.
