Feeling a bit ripped off May 1, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
This devices comes with 'Carryiteasy' encryption software preloaded onto the stick (CoSosys's software).
Plugged device into USB port. First impression OK (so far so good), so in order to get going, I started the software - only to be confronted with the 30 day trial or buy option costing 15. Clicked 'later' to trial package to take a look around to see whats was on offer. - To be honest, wasnt impressed with the software and there are better 'FREE' programmes out there. Therefore, decided to format stick into NTFS and start from stratch (why not? the sticks mine!)
BIG MISTAKE - after format, the stick is now only 8mb in size, and having read some of the previous reviews here (and internest advice), decided to re-installed the 'Carryiteasy' software back onto the stick. This done, the stick is still only 8mb in size and the reinstalled 'Carryiteasy' only recognises the stick as 8mb - not happy.
If I had trialled for 30 days, would I have been committed to buy the software? (partition installed) as formatting's not an option. Surely I'm the one who should decided what is software is on my stick and not some 3rd party. (was no metion of this when i bought it)
Anyway - probably end up wasting a few more hours on it before the product either gets flushed down the toilet or returned.

Excellent Memory Stick April 21, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
If you're looking for an 8GB memory stick with USB2.0 then this is a real bargain. The plastic housing is really solid (won't split).
I have a Mac Book Pro (Intel) and it works great. I've created 2 images on the stick (1GB private encrypted CD and the rest public NTFS). I sync the files every time the stick is connected ( I don't need it for backups).
The trial software that it is shipped with is for Windows only. If you're not really a techie you could buy a license and keep your files secure (looks really easy to use). If you know your bits from your Bytes then you won't need the software to get full security as Windows and Mac can do it for you.
I showed my neighbour and he instantly bought one from Amazon. He is really impressed with what he got. He uses it for backing up his data away from his Windows laptop.
Tech Tip: All the sticks that I've had come with FAT32 as standard. You may wish to re-format using NTFS. FAT32 can't hold files bigger than 4GB. NTFS is Mac and Windows compatible too. You may need to tweak your system to be able to format memory sticks with NTSF.
Wasted Space April 19, 2008 1 out of 10 found this review helpful
I bought this item as it was good price from well known manufacturer; It comes with software which when loaded looks good. After using it and realising that extra would have to be paid (there is free stuff out there that is just as good) I removed the software. When I came to use the drive it said I had to reformat the drive and would not start until I did, this left me with a 40mb drive and I could not recover the lost space and Freecom did not help and ignored my requests except on which they told me to go to a site - it was Italian the drive is going into bucket.
