I have tried to love Vista but....... April 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When XP Home was introduced, it was a significant improvement over Win98 and the awful WinME. Win XP pro was, well, much like Win2000 but with prettier graphics. Anyway XP as a whole was a good thing. Try as I might I can't say the same about Vista. The new visual "look" to Vista is awful (to my eyes at least) and all the visual toys nothing more than eye candy. The layout changes to menus etc also just make it awkward to use for seasoned Windows users. With all the superficial changes it doesn't actually do much that is new - it just makes doing the same old stuff awkward and involves alot of re-training of PC users, especially in the workplace. To add insult to injury, there are alot of software compatibility issues too.
There is one good thing about Vista. As an IT support guy. I keep busy wiping Vista off new machines and installing XP. Please don't pull the plug on OEM XP to soon Mr Gates.....
A nasty experience April 10, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Vista for my new computer, and experienced a full day of frustration trying to get my cherished Nero, Adobe Elements and Acid Music programmes to work but to no avail. I also found that many of my CDs backed up in WMP refused to play because (thanks, Bill Gates) I didn't have a licence to play them. Excuse me? I called in an experienced technician who spend two hours getting rid of Vista and re-installing my old XP software. His advice was that Vista has caused more probelms than it's worth, and to stick with tried and true XP. I have shelved Vista and will probably not reinstall it. Ever.
No need to go to Vista :- XP works - Vista doesn't March 30, 2008 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Simple one this:-
Vista - Terrible. Why upgrade ? Err, well because....er er..well actually you don't need to !!! XP does all the key things that Vista does, only better, quicker, and more reliably, cheaper. Save your money.

Installed and activated without any problems what so ever (clean install). Having started my computer career with Windows 95 and upgraded with each new release I can easily say that Vista is by far the most stable, user friendly OS to date. Just installed SP1 so the whole experience has just got better. For those with a negative view, take a bit of time to explore the new features and you to shall be converted. Once again an online purchase pleasure through Amazon.

I would recommend this operating system to anyone who has just bought a new PC or has a PC witch is less than a year old and it must have at least a dual core possessor with 2 gigs of ram and and a 256mb Graphics card.
Vista is an easy operating system to get your head round its very similar to XP in design but with a new age finish. It is very polished and very very easy to install.
It has a vast amount of new features and improved old fav's as well Media Player 11 and Internet Explorer work flawlessly with the operating system unlike with XP.
Its not a total reinvention of the OS but it is a worthy evolution and bear in mind Service Pack 1 is out tomorrow and will most defiantly improve it further!
